Kazakh wrestlers once again proved their high class on the international stage: at the U17 World Wrestling Championships held in Baku, the Kazakh national team won four more medals, reports infohub.kz.
The Kazakh team's haul includes one gold and three bronze medals. Bakdaulet Agabek won gold in the 48 kg category, while Mardan Orynbasar (60 kg), Adilet Rysbai (71 kg), and Inzhu Bakkozha (46 kg) took bronze.
In freestyle wrestling, Bakdaulet Agabek confidently made his way to the final, defeating opponents from Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan. In the decisive bout, the Kazakh athlete secured a convincing victory over India's Aryan.
In the consolation rounds for bronze medals, Mardan Orynbasar defeated Georgian wrestler Davit Mdzevashvili, and Adilet Rysbai proved stronger than Turkmen athlete Mekan Khudaiberenov.
Unfortunately, Daniyar Zamir (65 kg) and Sagyndyk Temirgali (110 kg) fell just short of the podium, losing their bronze-medal matches.
Thus, the Kazakh youth freestyle wrestling team finished the world championship with one gold and two bronze medals.
In women's wrestling, the Kazakh team also added to their medal tally. In addition to the silver won by Aisha Abdimalik (65 kg), Inzhu Bakkozha secured a bronze medal by defeating Russian Alina Baranova in the third-place match.
Ayanat Meinambai (49 kg) and Aruzhan Bakytnur (61 kg) finished in fifth place after losing their bronze-medal bouts.
Earlier, the Kazakh youth Greco-Roman wrestling team had won three medals at this championship: gold for Diyar Amanal (55 kg), silver for Ali Almas (48 kg), and bronze for Alinur Toleugali (71 kg).
The U17 World Wrestling Championships took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from July 27 to August 2. A total of 675 athletes competed for 30 sets of medals — ten each in Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling.
