The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan has proposed improving life and health insurance mechanisms for medical workers, reports infohub.kz.
The draft order has been published on the "Open NPA" portal. The document states that the main goals of the changes are to improve insurance mechanisms for medical workers' liability, as well as to insure their life and health while performing professional duties.
"The draft order provides for the introduction of a standard co-insurance contract for the life and health of medical workers during their professional duties, and the expansion of insurance coverage for professional liability to include intern doctors and resident doctors during their training," the draft says.
In addition, it is proposed to define cases of insurance compensation for harm caused to the life and health of a medical worker as a result of violent acts by third parties while performing professional duties.
The draft also provides for improving the procedure for insurance payments and interaction between healthcare entities, medical workers, patients, and the administrator of the unified insurance (reinsurance) pool. According to the Ministry of Health, the new rules should increase the social and legal protection of medical workers, improve insurance of their professional liability, and ensure insurance payments to patients if their life or health is harmed as a result of medical activities.
The draft is open for public discussion until September 16. Recall that on March 7, amendments to the Criminal Code came into force in Kazakhstan, toughening punishment for physical violence and threats against medical workers.
