Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on media reports suggesting that Kazakh citizens may have been involved in a mass brawl in South Korea, infohub.kz reports.

According to Yonhap, police in the South Korean city of Pyeongtaek are investigating the circumstances of a mass brawl that took place on the evening of October 3. The clash occurred in a residential area near a kindergarten and an elementary school. Law enforcement officials say the groups involved in the conflict are described as coming from Central Asian countries.

Two men in their 20s were detained at the scene, and police are searching for the other participants. According to South Korean police, wooden sticks and baseball bats were found at the scene. The Korea Times notes that CCTV footage indicates around 15 people took part in the incident, while witnesses reported roughly 40 participants in the brawl.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from a quarrel between groups of citizens of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Video of the incident spread online.

A NUR.KZ correspondent asked the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan for comment.

"According to preliminary information, there are no Kazakh citizens among those identified and detained so far as participants in the mass brawl in Pyeongtaek," the ministry said.
