Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to appeals from Kazakh citizens that appeared in the media asking for help in returning to their homeland, the website infohub.kz reports.

The ministry noted that appeals from citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan asking for assistance in returning home are circulating in the media.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes this situation with the utmost seriousness. Protecting the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of Kazakh citizens abroad is an absolute priority of the ministry's work," the statement said.

It stressed that Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry has practical experience in bringing compatriots back from combat zones in various countries and regions of the world.

"In this regard, it is fundamentally important to obtain complete and reliable information about Kazakh citizens not from the media, but directly from them or from their relatives. Some families have already applied to the ministry with requests for assistance," the ministry said.

The ministry operates a special hotline to receive requests from relatives of Kazakh citizens who have ended up in a combat zone.

"We ask the media to help disseminate the relevant contact details. In order to ensure the legal protection of citizens, the ministry needs comprehensive information, including surnames and first names, dates of birth, their presumed location, as well as details of the terms of the employment contracts they have signed," the statement said.

It stressed that the Foreign Ministry is continuing consultations with the Russian side in order to develop joint measures to bring Kazakh citizens home.

"Today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting with the Charge d'Affaires of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the near future, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation will hold meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Further information on the progress and results of this work will be provided later," the ministry added.
