In the East Kazakhstan region, Daniyar Bektemirov, head of the limited liability partnership "Ak Metal", has been sentenced to one year in prison, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the investigation, the company's license only permitted exploration of solid minerals. However, under the guise of laboratory and technological research, industrial extraction of iron ore and iron ore concentrate was carried out, with subsequent sales both domestically and abroad.
The illegal operations damaged the soil cover, altered the natural terrain and landscape, and created mine workings and waste dumps, resulting in significant technogenic impact on the area.
In total, over 70,000 tons of products were illegally extracted and sold, with criminal proceeds exceeding 1 billion tenge.
With these funds, the company's director acquired expensive assets: a Land Rover, a five-room apartment, three commercial premises, two parking spaces, and two land plots in Almaty and the Almaty region.
The court confiscated this property, valued at over 1 billion tenge, to the state. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
