According to a survey commissioned by the National Bank of Kazakhstan, 52.3% of Kazakhs believe their financial situation has not changed over the past year, while 27% said it has worsened. The results are more positive than in the survey conducted in April, reports infohub.kz.
The National Bank presented the results of its July survey on inflation expectations, conducted by FusionLab. The survey involved 1,500 Kazakhs from various regions.
When asked how their financial situation had changed over the past year, the majority of respondents – 52.3% – said it remained the same. In the previous survey, conducted in April, 48.4% of Kazakhs held this view, and a year ago – 49.9%.
Meanwhile, 27% of respondents reported a deterioration in their well-being. Compared to April, the share of those who believe they have become poorer decreased by 7.3 percentage points, and year-on-year – by 1.4 percentage points. 14.8% of surveyed Kazakhs believe their financial situation has improved over the year. In April, 12.1% held this opinion.
Kazakhs also became more optimistic about their future financial well-being. 28.8% believe it will improve in the coming year (up from 22.6% previously), while 16.7% expect a deterioration (down from 20.7% previously). 35.6% believe their well-being will not change.
Regarding monthly family income, 28.6% of Kazakhs said it ranges from 150,000 to 300,000 tenge. 23.3% claim their family income exceeds 300,000 but does not reach 500,000 tenge. For 14.1%, income exceeds 500,000 tenge per month.
Earlier, a National Bank survey showed that a third of Kazakhs spend more than 100,000 tenge on loan payments.
