In the first half of 2026, the volume of non-cash payments in Kazakhstan increased by 5.4%, reaching 91.2 trillion tenge, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan (AFK), non-cash payments totaled 91.2 trillion tenge in the first six months of 2026, up 5.4% from the same period last year. As a result, the share of non-cash transactions in the total volume of card transactions rose from 87% to 87.9%.

Against this backdrop, cash withdrawals from ATMs decreased by 2.8% to 12.6 trillion tenge. The number of withdrawals fell by 4.1%, but the average withdrawal amount increased by 1.3% to 114,300 tenge.

Interestingly, the number of non-cash transactions grew by 6% to 7 billion, while the average check decreased by 0.7% to 13,100 tenge. According to experts, this indicates that the growth in non-cash payments is driven primarily by more frequent use of cards and other payment methods.

Kazakhstanis are increasingly choosing QR payments. Non-cash payments are mainly used online, accounting for 79% of the total turnover. However, the share of QR payments is gradually growing from 10.2% to 10.9%, as well as POS terminals (card payments at the checkout) from 9.6% to 10%. It is worth recalling that since July, a unified interbank QR payment system and the Interbank Mobile Payment System service have been fully operational in Kazakhstan. These innovations may accelerate the transition of citizens to cashless payments.
