Kazakhstan's November to be 2°C warmer than normal, snow and blizzards forecast for Astana

November 2026 in Kazakhstan is expected to be about 2 degrees warmer than the climatic norm, according to a forecast for the final month of autumn released by the state-run Kazhydromet agency, the website infohub.kz reports.

Precipitation across most of the country is forecast to be within the norm. More rain and snow is expected in a number of northern, eastern and southeastern regions.

Above-normal precipitation, in particular, is expected in the North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions, across most of the Pavlodar region, and in the northern half of the West Kazakhstan, Kostanay and Akmola regions. The same is forecast for the far north of the Aktobe region, the southeastern half of the Almaty region and the Zhetisu region, as well as the northeast and southeast of the Abai region.

In most regions, the average November temperature will range from 0 to -5 degrees. In the south and southwest of the country, it is expected to range from +1 to +9 degrees, while in the mountainous areas of the southeast it will be between 0 and -5 degrees.

The average November temperature in Astana will be -3.6 degrees, against a norm of -5.2 degrees. Precipitation is expected to be near the norm, at 29 mm. At the start of the month, daytime temperatures will range from 0 to +5 degrees, warming to +8 degrees by the end of the first ten-day period. In late November, daytime temperatures may drop to -8 degrees and nighttime temperatures to -15 degrees. Snow, blizzards, fog and icy roads are forecast for the capital, with winds at times strengthening to 15-20 m/s.

The average November temperature in Almaty is expected to be +5.4 degrees, which is 2.5 degrees above the norm. Precipitation is forecast to be above normal. At the start of the month, daytime air temperatures may warm to +23 degrees. In mid-November, it will turn colder, to -3...+2 degrees, and by the end of the month daytime temperatures will rise again to +10...+15 degrees. Rain, snow, fog and icy roads are possible in the city, with wind gusts reaching 15 m/s.

In Shymkent, the average November temperature will be +8.7 degrees, against a norm of +6.1 degrees. Precipitation is expected to be near the norm, at 74 mm. At the start of the month, daytime temperatures may reach +22 degrees. A cold snap is expected in mid-November, while in the third ten-day period the air will warm to +20 degrees. Rain, wet snow, fog and icy roads are forecast for the city, with winds at times strengthening to 15 m/s.
