Kazhydromet has published its advisory weather forecast for October: after a brief cold snap in the first days of the month, warmth will return to Kazakhstan, reports infohub.kz.
Overall, according to the forecast, October is expected to be warm with moderate precipitation.
According to the meteorological service, at the very start of October, the main air temperature background across the country is expected to range from +15 to +25 degrees. Then, under the influence of a northern cyclone, precipitation in the form of rain and snow will sweep across the entire republic, winds will strengthen with gusts of up to 15-28 m/s, and ground-level blizzards are possible in the northern half.
With the intrusion of Arctic air masses, fog, icy conditions and frosts are not ruled out. It will get significantly colder, but not for long: in the west and northwest of the country, nighttime temperatures will drop to -6...+5, daytime to +2...+11 degrees; in the north, east and center, nighttime to -1...-6, daytime to 0...+8 degrees; in the south and southeast of the republic, nighttime to 0...+5°C, daytime to +10...+15, in mountainous areas nighttime to -2...-10, daytime to +5...+10 degrees.
In the second half of the first ten-day period, with the advection of warm air masses from Central Asia and the eastern Mediterranean coast, daytime temperatures will rise across most of the country to +15...+20, and in the southwest and southern half to +18...+28 degrees.
During the second and third ten-day periods of October, fluctuations in the temperature background are forecast: in the western and northwestern regions, nighttime from +5...+12 to -5...+5, daytime from +18...+28 to +10...+20 degrees; in the north, center and east of the country, nighttime from +3...+8 to -1...-8, daytime from +15...+23 to +3...+13 degrees; in the southern half, nighttime from +5...+10 to -3...+5, daytime from +15...+23 to +20...+30, and in certain periods the temperature background will be -1...-6 at night and +10...+15 degrees during the day.
According to the forecast, overall in October, the average monthly air temperature is expected to be 1-2 degrees above normal across most of the republic, and near normal in the East Kazakhstan region, the northeastern half of Pavlodar region and the Abai region. Precipitation amounts are forecast to be near the climate norm across most of the republic.
