Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health has put forward an initiative to unite leading medical universities of Turkic states into a single network university. According to the ministry's plan, such a structure would allow future doctors to study common educational programs, while young scientists could receive grants and undertake internships abroad, reports infohub.kz.
"Kazakhstan has proposed creating a network university of Turkic states that will bring together the leading medical universities of the OTS countries. It envisages the joint development of educational programs, including in public health, epidemiology and bioinformatics," said Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova.
A special council is planned to be established under the Organization of Turkic States to manage joint educational projects. Its work will focus primarily on the exchange of experience between member countries.
In addition, a grant program is proposed for young scientists, doctoral students and resident physicians, along with the development of joint internships in in-demand medical specialties. Priority areas include pediatric cardiac surgery, transplantology, neurosurgery and oncohematology.
Alnazarova emphasized that Kazakhstan's national research centers and university clinics are ready to become platforms for practical training of specialists from OTS countries.
Special attention will be given to regular polyclinics and outpatient clinics, especially in villages and border settlements. Kazakhstan proposes sending rural and family doctors on short-term internships, as well as launching joint mobile schools for them.
This format of experience exchange has already proven effective during the Days of Kazakh Medicine, which were recently held in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Kazakh doctors performed complex intrauterine blood transfusion procedures on unborn babies in Bishkek as part of the Days of Kazakh Medicine in Kyrgyzstan.
