Images purporting to show a new design for Kazakhstan's passport with neon patterns are circulating online. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has officially denied any involvement with these images, reports infohub.kz.
The Instagram news account astana_sergek posted images showing a purported ID document featuring a snow leopard, tulips, the Baiterek monument, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, and the EXPO sphere. These elements are not new and have appeared in various design concepts before.
The ministry's press service explained that the circulated sketch is not an official project, working version, or any document developed or approved by state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. "This material is not related to the new passport design being developed for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the ministry emphasized.
They added that a new passport design is currently being developed. Information about the completion of the work and approval of the final version will be communicated to interested parties as per established procedures. At this stage, it is not possible to provide sketches or mockups as the final design has not yet been approved.
