Kazakhstan's men's modern pentathlon team has reached the podium at the 20th Asian Games in 2026, hosted by Japan, according to infohub.kz.
The final in the sport took place on Sunday. In the team standings, which combine the three best individual results, the Kazakh team scored 4647 points to finish third. Temirlan Abdraimov, Lev Chuvashov and Tikhon Varyokhin took bronze. It is Kazakhstan's first Asian Games medal in pentathlon in 16 years.
South Korea won the team event with 4779 points. China took silver with 4768.
In the individual standings, China's Li Liuchang finished first with 1598 points. South Koreans Tae Jun-ung (1595) and Lee Jong-hyeon (1593) took second and third.
Abdraimov was the top Kazakh in the individual event, finishing seventh with 1564 points. Varyokhin was ninth (1554), Chuvashov 13th (1529) and Kirill Stadnik 18th (1138).
Modern pentathlon at the 2026 Asian Games includes fencing, swimming, an obstacle course and laser-run (running and laser shooting).
