As of August 1, 2026, Kazakhstan's population reached 20,604,819. Since the beginning of the year, the increase has been nearly 105,000 people, reports infohub.kz.
The Bureau of National Statistics noted that at the start of the year, the republic had 20,499,822 residents. Thus, the total increase over seven months amounted to 104,997 people.
According to the agency, by early August, there were 10,531,747 women and 10,073,072 men in the country.
Of the total population, over 13.2 million live in cities. Over the past months, the urban population grew by 126,649. Meanwhile, rural areas saw a decrease of 21,652, with nearly 7.4 million people living in villages by August.
Data on the most populous regions were also published. Almaty remains the leader with 2.3 million residents, followed by Turkistan Region (2.1 million), Astana (1.6 million), Almaty Region (1.6 million), and Shymkent (1.3 million).
