Some Kazakhstanis turn to so-called "helpers" who, for a fee, promise to process social payments or benefits. As the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan warns, such actions can lead to lost money and even legal liability, according to infohub.kz.

State benefits and social payments in Kazakhstan are granted under various circumstances and only to citizens who are legally entitled to them. For example, social payments are available only to officially employed Kazakhstanis for whom contributions are paid to the State Social Insurance Fund (SSIF).

However, as the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan notes, social media users periodically receive offers to help process social payments, extend them, or obtain unemployment benefits. In reality, such offers are dangerous and can lead to a range of negative consequences.

First and foremost is the loss of money: intermediaries are not needed for social benefit processing, and in such cases Kazakhstanis pay "for nothing." In addition, there is a risk of personal data leaks — outsiders will gain access to ID documents and other personal information. Another threat concerns bank accounts: card details and confidential banking information must not be shared, as this can lead to theft of funds. Finally, there is a risk of losing access — sharing SMS codes and electronic digital signatures (EDS) can jeopardize access to digital services.

Moreover, as the agency emphasizes, illegally obtained money will have to be repaid, and citizens may be held liable for fictitious employment or providing knowingly false information.

In 2025 alone, more than 30 criminal cases were opened in 12 regions of Kazakhstan over the illegal receipt of social payments. In five regions, courts handed down seven verdicts.

It is important to remember that to process a social payment, there is no need to pay intermediaries who promise guaranteed approval, faster processing, or extension of benefits. Kazakhstanis can apply for state support on their own, and they can do so without even visiting a Public Service Center in person.

To understand the scale: from January to August 2026, almost 1.1 million citizens received social payments from the SSIF totaling 527 billion tenge.
