Along Kazakhstan's international and republican highways, 62 electric vehicle charging stations are currently in operation. By 2034, their number is planned to increase to over 300, reports infohub.kz, citing the Ministry of Transport.
The largest number of charging stations is concentrated in the Almaty and Zhambyl regions, with 12 in each. They are followed by: Akmola region – 8, Karaganda region – 8, Turkestan region – 5, Atyrau region – 4, Pavlodar region – 3, Kyzylorda region – 3, Kostanay region – 2, Zhetysu region – 2, West Kazakhstan region – 1, North Kazakhstan region – 1, and Mangystau region – 1.
Meanwhile, four regions remain without such stations: Abai, Ulytau, East Kazakhstan, and Aktobe.
According to the Ministry of Transport, new charging stations will be opened as part of modern roadside service facilities. These will also include shops, driver rest areas, sanitary facilities, and solar power plants. Funding will be provided by private investors. The ministry expects the project to create new jobs and accelerate the development of electric vehicle infrastructure.
For comparison, in 2025 there were 45 charging stations along Kazakhstan's highways. Now there are already 62, and after the project is implemented, the network will exceed 300 stations.
