Starting July 24, 2026, new rules for calculating social benefits will take effect in Kazakhstan, with amounts in tiyn rounded to one tenge, reports infohub.kz.
The order from the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population establishes a procedure whereby erroneously or excessively paid social contributions are refunded by the State Corporation within one business day. The statute of limitations for reclaiming overpayments is five years for large businesses and subsoil users, and three years for other categories of payers. Refund services are funded from the budget.
Unemployment benefits are granted for a period of one to six months, starting from the day the right arises and ending the month the recipient is deregistered with the career center. Annual income verification will be conducted for individual entrepreneurs, farms, and their employees. If discrepancies are found, the amount of social benefits (for unemployment, disability, and loss of breadwinner) will be adjusted. Information on contribution status must be prepared within three working days.
Earlier, a similar decision was made regarding pension payments; rounding will begin on July 18, 2026.
