The government has announced enhanced measures to speed up vehicle passage at the Kazakhstan-Russia border, reports infohub.kz.
First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev chaired a meeting on the current situation at automobile checkpoints and improving the efficiency of traffic flow. During the meeting, the Border Service of the National Security Committee reported on the situation at the state border and measures taken to ensure the rapid passage of vehicles through the checkpoints "Alimbet", "Zhaissan", and "Syrym".
It is noted that checkpoints on the Kazakh side operate around the clock in a standard mode. Given the seasonal increase in transit traffic through Kazakhstan, control over the timely modernization of automobile checkpoints on the internal border of the Eurasian Economic Union has been strengthened. This will reduce the time required for control procedures.
For the comfort of truckers, service waiting zones for drivers will be created near priority checkpoints, providing comfortable conditions while they await border control. The relevant work is planned to be completed by 2027.
Following the meeting, instructions were given to ensure uninterrupted and accelerated passage of vehicles. To this end, the Ministry of Transport, together with relevant state and local executive bodies, has set up operational headquarters. The situation remains under government control.
