Kazakhstan's men's sabre team has won bronze in the team event at the 10th Summer Asian Games in Nagoya. The squad featured Artyom Sarkisyan, Nurmukhammed Zhailybay, Nazarbay Sattarkhan and Kuanysh Ergashbay. For Sarkisyan, the medal is his second bronze of the current competition, according to infohub.kz.

The Kazakh sabre fencers opened their run to the podium with a convincing win over Saudi Arabia in the first round, 45:32. In the quarterfinals they edged China 45:40 to secure at least a bronze. In the semifinal, however, with a place in the final at stake, the Kazakhs fell to Japan 34:45.

Kazakhstan's foil fencers came up just short of the medals. Sofia Aktayeva, Alina Iskanderova and Alyona Gnoyeva lost a tense bout to their rivals from China 36:40.

Before the current tournament began, Kazakhstan's Asian Games fencing tally stood at three gold, four silver and 13 bronze medals. Sarkisyan claimed the 14th bronze in Nagoya, the women's epee team delivered the 15th and the sabre team the 16th. Kirill Prokhodov's medal at the 2026 Asian Games was Kazakhstan's fifth silver.

The men's epee team has been crowned Asian Games champion twice, in 1994 and 2002. In the same weapon, Dmitry Aleksanin won at the 2018 Asian Games.

The 10th Summer Asian Games officially opened on September 19 and will close on October 4. Athletes from 45 countries are competing, with 460 sets of medals up for grabs. Kazakhstan's team at the 2026 Asian Games comprises 558 athletes in 35 sports.

On the first day of the Games, Kazakhstan won four gold medals. Cyclists Rinata Sultanova and Alexey Lutsenko, along with karateka Zholaman Bigabyl and Sofya Berultseva, took titles. MMA fighter Yerkingali Burkutalin added a fifth gold, and his mixed martial arts teammate Kadyrbek Shynbayev a sixth. On September 23, Lutsenko became a two-time champion at the 2026 Asian Games. The eighth gold came on September 24, when rowers Vladislav Yakovlev and Ivan Chernukhin won the men's coxless pairs.

After six days of competition, Kazakhstan sat fourth in the unofficial medal standings.
