Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an advisory to the country's citizens following attacks on civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, infohub.kz reports.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhanbolat Usenov outlined recommendations for Kazakh citizens in Saudi Arabia. The statement was prompted by attacks on civilian sites in the kingdom.
The ministry urged heightened precautions and compliance with local authorities' instructions. Citizens are advised to avoid airports unless absolutely necessary, checking flight status with airlines in advance. They should also avoid crowded places and high-risk facilities, and postpone non-urgent travel where possible.
In emergencies, citizens were asked to contact Kazakhstan's Embassy in Riyadh or the Consulate General in Jeddah. Emergency contact numbers: +966 55 663 01 77 (consul in Riyadh) and +966 53 275 80 80 (consul in Jeddah).
Earlier reports said at least 12 people were killed and 309 injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Yemen's Houthis, who fired a missile at the site, are blamed for the incident.
Among the dead are four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis, one US citizen, one Egyptian, one Jordanian, one Syrian, one Palestinian and one Sudanese. Some of the injured are in critical condition.
The Foreign Ministry said no Kazakh citizens were among the dead or injured. Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry also strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on civilian sites in Saudi Arabia that caused loss of life.
