First Vice Minister of Education Sholpan Akparova commented at an SCC briefing on reports of a possible ban on makeup in the country's schools, reports infohub.kz.
Journalists drew attention to messages circulating online that schoolgirls were allegedly banned from coming to classes with makeup, and parents could be fined for such a violation.
Akparova explained that the Ministry of Education's order does not contain a specific ban on makeup. However, she stressed that there are standard school rules and a charter aimed at ensuring a unified approach. "Because we understand that children going with makeup from an early age is, of course, primarily harmful to health. For these purposes, schools may also determine in their rules that parents ensure children are in the school building without makeup," she noted.
The Vice Minister also reminded that schools do not allow accessories with traumatic fittings, and administrative liability is provided for violating the mandatory school uniform. "The first time - a warning. Repeated within a year - a fine. Here I want to note that schools specifically do not allow wearing accessories with traumatic fittings - this is precisely regulated in the order," the speaker added.
