Ahead of the new school year, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure children's safety. Over 7,000 schools are now connected to operational management centers and police duty units, allowing for rapid response to any threats, reports infohub.kz.
Currently, there are 7,656 secondary schools in the country, equipped with more than 283,000 CCTV cameras. Of these, 7,159 educational institutions are integrated into the rapid response system of internal affairs bodies. The ministry emphasizes that video surveillance is just one element of a comprehensive security system, which also includes measures to ensure children's safety on their way to school.
As part of preparations for the new school year, MVD officers conducted 9,417 inspections of road infrastructure near educational institutions. As a result, 4,070 orders were issued to eliminate identified deficiencies, of which 3,440 have been fulfilled to date. For failure to comply with lawful requirements of state bodies, 11 protocols were drawn up under Article 462 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
Additionally, near schools, 258 pedestrian crossings, 1,429 speed bumps, 4,854 road signs, over 10 kilometers of fencing, and 1,897 lighting installations have been installed and equipped. The ministry noted that all these measures are aimed at one goal: ensuring children's safety on their way to and from school.
The police emphasize the importance of joint efforts: "Ensuring children's safety is impossible with police alone. This requires the joint work of parents, teachers, state bodies, and the whole society. Today, this work is united by a common state task: to create conditions where a child can calmly study, develop, and build their future. The principle of 'Law and Order' regarding children means above all one thing: every child should grow up in an environment where their rights are protected, their voice is heard, and school, street, family, and the digital space are as safe as possible."
