In the Kostanay region, a labor dispute over unpaid overtime and work on weekends and holidays has been resolved through a mediation agreement, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the official Telegram channel of the Kostanay regional courts, the Karabalyk district court considered a civil case brought by three female shop employees against a limited liability partnership (LLP). The women sought to recover unpaid wages for overtime hours, work on weekends and holidays, as well as compensation for unused vacation and moral damages.
During the proceedings, it was established that the plaintiffs worked as saleswomen in a store owned by the LLP, with a schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The employer systematically required them to work overtime, as well as on weekends and holidays, but did not fully compensate them for the actual hours worked. Additionally, upon their dismissal, they were not paid compensation for unused vacation.
As part of the conciliation procedures, the judge-mediator explained to the parties the benefits of peaceful dispute resolution as provided by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Mediation." As a result, the parties reached a mutually beneficial compromise and signed a mediation agreement, under which the plaintiffs reduced their claims to 500,000 tenge each, and the respondent agreed to pay these amounts within a specified period.
By court ruling, the mediation agreement was approved, and the civil case was dismissed.
