Kazakhstan is introducing SMS reminders for preventive screenings and notifications about administered vaccinations, while also expanding digital verification of medical services. This was reported by infohub.kz.

Starting October 19, residents of Akmola Region, as well as Abai and Ulytau Regions, will begin receiving SMS reminders about the need to undergo screening. The messages will come through the unified contact center 1414.

"The system will automatically identify citizens who are due for preventive examinations in six areas. These cover early detection of cardiovascular and oncological diseases, diabetes, cerebrovascular disorders, and viral hepatitis. Upon receiving the notification, a citizen can contact their polyclinic at their place of attachment to undergo the examination," the statement said.

It is noted that from October 26 of this year, nationwide SMS notifications about vaccinations administered are planned to be launched. After a vaccination is registered in the medical system, the citizen or the child's legal representative will receive a message indicating the type and date of vaccination.

If the information is inaccurate, the citizen can report this by replying to 1414. The information will be forwarded to the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control for verification.

In parallel, the Ministry of Health is expanding digital identification of patients, which allows confirming the provision of medical services.

"As of October 7 of this year, 73% of the 135.9 million registered appointments have undergone digital identification. Today, the mechanism covers 1,278 types of medical services. From December 1 of this year, the list is planned to be expanded by another 736 types of consultations, diagnostic studies, and medical procedures. The introduction of digital services is aimed at increasing the accessibility of preventive examinations, protecting patients' rights, ensuring the reliability of medical data, and transparency in healthcare financing," the ministry added.
