In Seoul, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea elevated their bilateral relations to a new level: foreign ministers exchanged verbal notes on a new status for cooperation, and in the presence of the heads of state, members of official delegations signed and exchanged 12 intergovernmental and interagency documents. Cooperation covered energy, nuclear industry, technology, transport, climate, labor migration, and culture, according to infohub.kz.

Energy was the central focus. The parties agreed on cooperation in the oil sector and signed a separate memorandum on cooperation in energy and climate policy.

A separate block of agreements concerns the peaceful use of nuclear energy: Kazakhstan's Atomic Energy Agency concluded two memorandums with Korean agencies, providing for the development of cooperation in this area.

Technology was also in focus. Kazakhstan and Korea intend to jointly develop talent in science and technology, as well as cooperate in the field of intellectual property.

A number of documents are dedicated to infrastructure and transport: the countries will cooperate in urban development and infrastructure projects, as well as in advanced air mobility.

Agreements were reached on cooperation in digital forest restoration and combating climate change. A separate memorandum provides for interaction on labor migration within the framework of the Korean EPS system.

The humanitarian sphere was not overlooked: a memorandum on cultural cooperation for 2026–2030 was signed, and another document is aimed at the preservation and management of historical sites.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Presidents Qasym-Jomart Toqaev and Lee Jae-myung held talks in an expanded format. On the eve, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea concluded a package of commercial agreements totaling $19 billion.
