Forecasters have issued a storm warning for regions of Kazakhstan on Tuesday, September 29. Several regions and cities are expected to see frosts, strong winds, fog and thunderstorms, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the state-run Kazhydromet weather service, Astana will see northeast and east winds during the day on September 29, with gusts of 15–18 metres per second. Frosts down to -3°C are expected on the ground surface overnight, while a high fire danger persists.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the mountainous areas of Zhambyl Region. Fog is forecast in the region's mountainous areas overnight and in the morning. Light rain, thunderstorms and squalls are expected overnight in the north and centre of Kyzylorda Region.
Aktobe Region will see northeast and east winds during the day in the south and east, with gusts of 15–18 metres per second. Frosts down to -1°C are expected overnight in the region's northeast.
Pavlodar Region will see northeast winds during the day in the south, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. Frosts down to -3°C are expected overnight in the north, south and centre of the region.
In Abai Region, northeast winds are expected in the north and southwest, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. Frosts down to -3°C are forecast overnight in the north, west and centre of the region.
Fog is expected in the north and east of East Kazakhstan Region. Frosts down to -3°C are forecast in the north, east and mountainous areas of the region.
Fog is expected in North Kazakhstan Region. Northeast winds are forecast during the day in the west and south, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. Frosts down to -3°C are expected overnight in the west and north of the region.
Mangystau Region will see east winds in the west and centre, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. A high fire danger persists in the west, north and centre of the region.
Akmola Region will see northeast and east winds during the day in the west, south and east, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. Frosts down to -3°C are expected overnight in the west, north and east of the region.
Turkistan Region will see rain and thunderstorms. A dust storm is forecast during the day in the north of the region. Northeast winds will shift to northwest in the west, north, mountainous and foothill areas, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second.
Shymkent will see northeast winds shifting to northwest, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second.
In Zhetisu Region, northeast winds are expected near the Alakol lakes, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second.
Fog is expected overnight and in the morning in the west and north of Kostanay Region. East winds are forecast in the south, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. Frosts down to -2°C are expected overnight in the north of the region.
A high fire danger persists in Atyrau Region, with an extreme fire danger in the south.
Fog is expected in the north and east of West Kazakhstan Region. A high fire danger persists in the south and southeast of the region.
Karaganda Region will see northeast and east winds in the north, south and east, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. Frosts down to -3°C are expected overnight in the north and east of the region.
In Ulytau Region, northeast winds are expected in the south and east, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second. An extreme fire danger persists.
