In the Akmola region, police are investigating a criminal case involving the theft of a large sum of money from a bank account via a mobile application. The incident occurred in the Tselinograd district, reports infohub.kz.

According to the regional police department, in May of this year, a local resident began construction of a private house in the village of Karotkel. To carry out the work, he hired a man he met while searching for workers. Over several months, the hired worker performed construction and repair work at the site.

On the morning of August 22, the victim discovered his mobile phone missing. Checking his banking app, he saw that several transfers totaling 2 million tenge had been made from his account. The recipient turned out to be his worker. However, it turned out that the man had introduced himself under a false name when they first met.

The account owner immediately reported the incident to the police. Officers conducted a series of investigative and operational measures, resulting in the prompt identification of the suspect. Currently, necessary operational and investigative actions are underway, and all circumstances of the incident are being established.
