Forest fires broke out in three regions of Kazakhstan on July 18: Akmola, East Kazakhstan, and Pavlodar (Bayanaul National Park), according to infohub.kz.

Personnel from the state forest protection service and resources from the republican state enterprise Kazavialesookhrana have been mobilized to locate and extinguish the fires. Units from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are called in if needed.

A forest fire in the Semey Ormany state forest nature reserve, which started on July 16, was contained by the morning of July 18. During the firefighting efforts, helicopters made 319 water drops, delivering a total of 709 tons of water to the site.

Open flames were extinguished on July 17. Rescuers are now working to eliminate remaining hot spots.
