The sixth World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan saw another day of competition conclude, with Kazakhstan moving to the top of the overall standings, reports infohub.kz.
On the fourth day of competition, the national team claimed nine gold medals. Ernur Suleimen became champion in Kazakh wrestling (qazaq kuresi) in the up to 60 kg weight category. In traditional archery, Asemgul Galymzhanova and Ayash Kabdollayeva took gold. Kanat Baktybai proved strongest in tenge ilu, a national equestrian game. Meir Rakhmetkaliyev won the individual tug-of-war tournament, having earlier secured gold in the 8x8 and 4x4 team events.
In horse racing, four Kazakhs reached the top step of the podium. Nomad Games champions include Nurassyl Bekbatyr (alaman baige, 25 km), Sanzhar Omekei (kunam baige, 12 km), Ramazan Tabyl diev (ushkyr baige, 2.4 km), and Karimzhan Kurbanzhanov (ushkyr baige, 3.2 km).
Additionally, on Friday, Kazakhs won five silver and seven bronze medals. In total, Kazakhstan's team now has 55 medals (25 gold, 13 silver, 17 bronze). The team overtook hosts Kyrgyzstan in the overall standings (23 gold, 24 silver, 11 bronze).
The Nomad Games will run until September 6 inclusive.
