In a single week, police in Kazakhstan curbed nearly 10,000 traffic violations, with particular focus on drifters and drunk drivers. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this, according to infohub.kz.
Among the violations identified were 201 cases of drunk driving. One such incident occurred at night in the city of Ushtobe: police officers stopped a Toyota Marino driven by a 34-year-old man under the influence. The court arrested him for 15 days and revoked his driver's license for seven years.
Furthermore, the ministry noted that curbing drifting and dangerous driving is under constant police control. Over the past week, such violations were detected in Astana, Kostanay, and Shymkent.
In the capital, two young drivers drifted on Shamshi Kaldayakov Street. Both were arrested for 10 days, and their cars were placed in a impound lot. In Kostanay, drifting was captured on surveillance cameras, and the driver was quickly identified. It turned out that since the beginning of the year, he had already been cited 16 times for traffic violations. The court sentenced him to 15 days of arrest. In Shymkent, an 18-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver drifted and disturbed the peace at night — he was also arrested for 10 days.
Additionally, from September 21, more than 13,000 illegal inscriptions and graffiti have been removed nationwide. Over six thousand administrative cases have been initiated. Pre-trial investigations have been launched into four of the most serious incidents: one for vandalism and three for drug-related graffiti.
Also, during the week, police solved one murder, three cases of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death, 11 robberies, 218 thefts, as well as seven cattle thefts and eight car thefts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
It is worth noting that recently, a Mercedes-Benz driver drifted near the monument to the Kazakh Khanate and was arrested.
