A young female passenger on a train traveling from Mangistau to Almaty faced indecent behavior from an elderly fellow traveler. The incident occurred in late August, and the offender has now been held accountable, according to infohub.kz.

The woman, a student, recounted her journey on the social network Threads, stating that a man around 65 years old harassed her. He boarded the train in Kyzylorda on August 29. Initially, he engaged in casual conversation, asking where she was headed and where she was from. However, his behavior soon turned alarming.

According to the woman, the man began staring at her intently, then placed his foot on her mattress and touched her leg. Later, he continued his inappropriate conduct, allegedly exposing himself and shining his phone's flashlight on his private parts. At around 3:15 AM, the student woke up to find the man squeezing her knee.

"He grabbed my knee and squeezed it. I shouted, 'What are you doing? Take your hand away!'", she wrote. After that, she couldn't sleep and turned on the light. "I was already awake, turned on the light, and filmed him. He didn't stop, even blowing kisses and making heart signs at me," she recounted.

The student reported the incident to the train conductor. After the conductor spoke with the passenger, the man allegedly offered her 80,000 tenge to settle the matter, but she refused the money.

The Transport Police Department told NUR.KZ that officers from the police station at Kyzylorda station identified and detained a 69-year-old resident of the city. "Immediate legal measures were taken against the man, and administrative proceedings were initiated for petty hooliganism and disturbing the peace. All collected materials have been fully submitted to the court for a decision. Such actions, which violate public order and the peace of citizens, are unacceptable and will receive a firm legal assessment," the press service stated.
