Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport has reminded drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules during the summer holiday period, when roads see particularly heavy traffic, according to infohub.kz.
The ministry noted that with the ongoing summer season and high congestion on republican highways, especially towards recreation areas and between regions, drivers are advised to exercise increased caution. Specialists remind drivers to observe speed limits, follow overtaking rules, avoid driving while fatigued, and be especially careful on busy stretches and at night. When transporting children, the use of seat belts and child restraint systems is mandatory. The ministry emphasized that discipline and responsible behavior by every road user remain the key to safety, as most accidents are caused by human error.
An analysis conducted by the ministry shows that poor driver discipline remains the decisive factor in accidents. 91% of all road traffic accidents are linked to gross violations of traffic rules. The most common violations include speeding (33%), loss of vehicle control (14%), failure to maintain distance (13%), and ignoring road signs (10%). These figures confirm that strengthening traffic discipline remains a key reserve for further reducing accidents.
The Ministry of Transport also noted that in the first half of the year, there was a decrease in accidents on republican highways. The number of road traffic accidents fell by 9% – from 1,507 to 1,371 cases – despite traffic intensity increasing by 37% to 22.3 million vehicles over the six-month period.
The Road Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan urges all road users to comply with traffic rules. Remember, road safety depends on the responsibility of every driver, they appealed to Kazakhstani drivers.
