Kazakhstan to Present Initiatives at 81st UN General Assembly Session in New York

A Kazakh delegation led by Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi is taking part in the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The news was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, according to infohub.kz.

The theme of this year's session is "Rebuilding trust, managing transformations: the UN working for all." During the discussions, participants intend to address a wide range of issues — from peace and security to sustainable development, climate change, human rights, digital technology and artificial intelligence.

The head of the Kazakh delegation will speak at the General Assembly's general debate. He will set out the country's position on key international issues, as well as proposals for strengthening multilateral cooperation.

A particular focus is planned on Kazakhstan's experience in promoting environmental responsibility, volunteering, the rule of law and social cohesion.

"It should be noted that Kazakhstan's priority initiatives within the UN remain the creation of an International Water Organization and an International Agency for Biological Safety," the Foreign Ministry said.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, the delegation will hold talks with the leadership of the UN and its agencies, the OSCE and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The program also includes bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of a number of countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Canada, Hungary, Poland and Switzerland.

In addition, Kazakh representatives will take part in ministerial meetings of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Organization of Turkic States. Participation is planned in events on transport cooperation, investment, the environment and digitalization.

During the session, Kazakhstan intends to promote initiatives on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, the water and environmental agenda, human rights, artificial intelligence and improving the effectiveness of the UN.
