Under the auspices of the International Year of Volunteers, initiated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a series of events dedicated to the development of international cooperation in volunteerism took place at UN headquarters in New York, reports the website infohub.kz.

The initiative was led by Kazakhstan, with support from Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the CICA Secretariat, and the United Nations Volunteers program.

The program included the opening of a photo exhibition "Volunteerism in CICA Member States" and an international panel discussion "Best Practices of Volunteerism in CICA Member States." Participants were also presented with an electronic publication on advanced volunteer development experiences in CICA countries.

Special attention during the discussion was given to Kazakhstan's experience. UN representatives praised the national system for tracking volunteer activities and the consistent state policy promoting volunteerism both domestically and internationally.

The discussion involved representatives from the UN, CICA member states, and international experts. They exchanged successful practices in volunteerism, youth participation, and international cooperation.

Holding these events at UN headquarters confirmed recognition of Kazakhstan's contribution to advancing the global volunteer agenda and strengthening cooperation for sustainable development.
