September 30 was the most productive day for Kazakhstan's national team at the XX Summer Asian Games 2026 in terms of medals won, according to infohub.kz.
The national team went without a gold medal for the third day in a row. That cost them another spot in the overall standings: Kazakhstan dropped to ninth place, overtaken by India. In terms of total medals, however, the national team sits in fifth place.
On Wednesday, judokas Yeldos Smetov (under 60 kg) and Abiba Abuzhakynova (under 48 kg) won silver. In canoe slalom, kayaker Aleksandr Korobov and canoeist Anastasia Ananyeva took bronze.
Three Kazakhstani boxers lost their semifinal bouts. As a result, Alua Balkibekova (under 51 kg), Natalya Bogdanova (under 75 kg) and Makhmud Sabyrkhan (under 55 kg) took bronze medals. Torekhan Sabyrkhan (under 70 kg) advanced to the final on Wednesday — he is guaranteed at least silver.
In wrestling, Greco-Roman competitor Meirzhan Shermakhanbet (under 67 kg) brought Kazakhstan its first medal.
China leads the overall standings by a wide margin. Japan and South Korea follow, while Uzbekistan has consolidated fourth place.
