Meteorologists from Kazhydromet have warned residents of Kazakhstan about a sharp cold snap due to an approaching northern cyclone. August warmth will give way to heavy rains and thunderstorms in most regions, with temperatures dropping to 12-20 degrees, reports infohub.kz.
The northern cyclone and its associated atmospheric fronts are expected to cover much of Kazakhstan.
In the north and center of the country, rain and thunderstorms are forecast. In some areas, heavy downpours, hail, and squally winds are expected. Daytime temperatures in the north will sharply fall to 12-20 degrees Celsius, and in the center to 17-25 degrees.
The west will also see cooler weather (16-24 degrees). However, due to the influence of the Scandinavian anticyclone, no precipitation is expected, with clear and partly cloudy conditions. This anticyclone will gradually move eastward.
Unlike the cool north, several regions will remain under the influence of warm air masses. In the east, a comfortable rise in temperature is expected: daytime highs will range from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius.
In the south and southeast, summer is not letting go. These regions will remain dry, with daytime temperatures steadily holding at 30-37 degrees Celsius.
