Kazakhstan's weightlifting team finished the final day of competition at the 2026 Summer Asian Games in Japan without a medal, infohub.kz reports.
Lyubov Kovalchuk competed in the over-86 kg category. She lifted 115 kg in the snatch and 152 kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 267 kg, which earned her fourth place.
Two-time Olympic champion Li Wenwen of China took gold with 310 kg (140+170). Park Hye-jeong of South Korea claimed silver with 300 kg (133+167), while Qatar's Wisal Ihlef took bronze with 273 kg (120+153).
In the up-to-86 kg category, Kazakhstan's Aiganym Zhanbolat finished seventh with 232 kg (102+130). China's Wu Yan won with 273 kg (124+149). Alina Marushchak of Bahrain took silver with 272 kg (124+148), and Iran's Mahsa Beheshti claimed bronze with 259 kg (113+146).
Kazakhstan's weightlifting team thus ended the 2026 Asian Games with three silver medals.
