In Kazakhstan, users of the WhatsApp messenger have faced mass blocking of their accounts, reports the website infohub.kz.
Complaints about blocking have appeared not only in Kazakhstan but also in other countries around the world. On the social network Threads, Kazakhstani users are actively discussing this issue, noting that the blocking occurs without visible reasons.
One user under the nickname Erkoshtau wrote: "My WhatsApp account was blocked for 24 hours. Nothing unusual happened, has anyone else experienced this?" Another user, Aizhalina, wonders: "Who has encountered a WhatsApp block? In what cases does it happen?? I was on WhatsApp and sent a message to a new contact. And then WhatsApp blocked me. Who has seen this? What to do?" User arailym_designer also reported: "Why does WhatsApp block like this? First time this happened (I submitted a request for review."
At the time of publication, Meta, which owns WhatsApp, had not made official statements. However, the TechCrunch portal received a comment from a company representative: "We are constantly working to stay ahead of those who try to abuse our service and block accounts to ensure the safety of other users. Sometimes we make mistakes, and if that happens, we try to fix the situation as quickly as possible so people can chat again. We have taken steps to restore affected accounts."
