Kazakhstan will launch a women-only carriage on an international route for the first time, allowing passengers on the train to Uzbekistan's capital to use it, reports infohub.kz.
According to JSC "Passenger Transportation", the women-only carriage will be introduced on international train No. 1/2 "Almaty — Tashkent" starting October 1.
"Given the demand and growth in passenger traffic, a decision has been made to launch a 'Women's Carriage' on this route. This service is also in high demand on domestic railway routes. Since the launch of the 'Women's Carriage' service, more than 946,000 passengers have used it," noted Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Passenger Transportation".
It is noted that the train currently runs daily: departure from Almaty station at 19:05; arrival at Tashkent station at 12:53 (Tashkent time); departure from Tashkent station at 14:41 (Tashkent time); arrival at Almaty station at 08:51.
With the launch of the new carriage, the number of routes with the "Women's Carriage" service will increase to 14: No. 77/78 "Almaty — Mangistau"; No. 351/352 "Almaty — Mangistau"; No. 45/46 "Pavlodar — Turkestan"; No. 37/38 "Mangistau — Semey"; No. 47/48 "Atyrau — Astana"; No. 33/34 "Aktobe — Almaty"; No. 3/4 "Astana — Almaty"; No. 71/72 "Astana — Shymkent"; No. 353/354 "Astana — Semey"; No. 23/24 "Aktobe — Almaty"; No. 25/26 "Almaty — Shymkent"; No. 613/614 "Uralsk — Mangistau"; No. 81/82 "Nurly Zhol — Oral"; No. 1/2 "Almaty-2 — Tashkent".
It is noted that in the women's carriage, boys up to 7 years old inclusive are allowed to travel accompanied by adults. Tickets for such carriages are sold exclusively to women, and only female conductors serve them.
