Yeldos Saidalin, head coach of the Kazakhstan national boxing team, has announced the final squad for the Asian Games, scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Japan, in an interview with the National Olympic Committee, reports infohub.kz.
According to Saidalin, the women's team includes Alua Balkibekova (up to 51 kg), Nazym Kyzaibay (up to 54 kg), Viktoriya Grafeyeva (up to 60 kg), Aida Abikeyeva (up to 65 kg), and Natalya Bogdanova (up to 75 kg).
"When forming the list of participants, we took into account the results of last year's World Championship and the stages of the World Cup this season," the coach noted.
The specialist emphasized that women's boxing in Asia is developing rapidly, and he singled out the teams of India and China as main rivals.
"Currently, our team is holding a training camp in the USA. On August 4, we return to Kazakhstan. After that, the athletes will train according to individual programs and get some rest. The next camp will begin on August 16, with the participation of the Russian and US teams. Then, on September 9, we will head to Japan for the final stage of preparation. We will go through adaptation and get ready for the Games," Saidalin said.
According to the coach, the Kazakh athletes are in good spirits and injury-free. The team expects a successful performance at the 2026 Asian Games.
