On the first day of the 6th World Nomad Games, Kazakhstan's national team competed in five disciplines, including Ordo, Togyz Korgool, Kurash, Goresh, and Mongolian Bokh, reports infohub.kz.
The Games are taking place in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6. Kazakhstan is represented by 152 athletes registered in 42 sports.
On the first day, Kazakhstani athletes competed in Ordo (asyk atu), Togyz Korgool (togyzkumalak), Kurash, Goresh, and Mongolian Bokh. The competitions in the three wrestling styles have already concluded.
Yerassyl Amangeldi, who competed in Mongolian Bokh, and Madiyar Abdrakhmanov, who participated in Goresh, lost to their opponents.
The Togyz Korgool competitions will continue until September 6, while the final Ordo games are scheduled for September 2.
On the second day of the Games, Kazakhstani athletes will compete in Kokpar, Kokboru, Er Enish (audaryspak), Alysh, Ovary, Mangala, Togyz Korgool, horse marathon, Ordo, hunting with birds of prey, Zhamby Atu, traditional archery, mas-wrestling, tug of war, sumo, strongman, and breaking the backbone bone.
At the opening ceremony, the national flag of Kazakhstan was carried by the world champion in Kokpar, captain of the national team Turganbek Kurmanbek.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games at the Bishkek Arena stadium caused a wide resonance on social media. The show was prepared with the participation of the Kazakhstani team Wakeuphana, led by director Andrey Khvan, as well as companies Upstage and Filmotion, which were responsible for the technical and visual parts.
About 2,000 dancers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia were involved in the production. Special attention of the audience was drawn to large-scale stage elements, including a snow leopard and a bird.
