Kazakhstan's wushu team has ended its medal quest at the 2026 Summer Asian Games, with all three athletes losing their matches in the Round of 16. The competitions are taking place in the Japanese cities of Aichi and Nagoya, according to infohub.kz.
On September 21, in the women's 60 kg category, Alina Shosova faced Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy. The bout ended in a 2-0 victory for her opponent, and the Kazakh athlete finished her run in the Round of 16.
In the men's 60 kg competition, Karim Iminzhanov also went up against a Vietnamese fighter, Hua Van Doan. The Kazakh lost 0-2 and failed to advance to the quarterfinals.
Another Kazakh representative, Beksultan Koskenov, competed in the 65 kg category. In the Round of 16, he faced Indonesia's Samuel Marbun, and the bout ended in a 0-2 defeat for the Kazakh.
Thus, all three Kazakh representatives ended their medal pursuit in the specified weight categories at the Round of 16 stage.
