YouTube has announced the global expansion of its Premium Lite subscription, and the new tier will now be available in all countries where YouTube Premium is offered, including Kazakhstan. This more affordable version of the premium subscription allows users to watch most videos and listen to podcasts without ads, but it is significantly less feature-rich than the standard subscription, reports infohub.kz.
Premium Lite does not include YouTube Music, nor does it allow downloading videos for offline viewing or background playback. For those features, users will still need the regular YouTube Premium.
Additionally, Google warns that ads may still appear in certain parts of the service, such as when watching Shorts, listening to music content, or browsing the YouTube feed.
The company has not yet disclosed the price of Premium Lite for Kazakhstan. In the US, the subscription costs $7.99 per month (about 3,700 tenge), but Google notes that in other countries the price will be regional and likely lower than the US price.
Users can check if the new tier is available in the subscription section of their YouTube account. The company promises to roll out Premium Lite in the near future in all countries where YouTube Premium is already available.
