Police in Kokshetau are investigating a fraud case related to overseas job placement, in which 93 people lost about 60 million tenge, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the Akmola Regional Police Department, the Kokshetau police are conducting a pre-trial investigation into fraud (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan) involving services for employment abroad.
According to the investigation, between 2023 and January 2026, the suspect offered citizens job placement services in the UK via social media. Under the pretext of processing visas, medical insurance, biometrics, and other necessary documents, she received money from citizens but did not fulfill her promises.
Currently, 93 people have been recognized as victims in the criminal case. Preliminary data indicates the total damage amounts to about 60 million tenge. Money was transferred both in cash and via bank transfers, the police department said.
During the investigation, necessary investigative actions were taken, and the suspect was interrogated. She has been placed under house arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and police are establishing all circumstances and identifying other possible victims.
