Kazakhstan's cinemas raked in a hefty 740 million tenge over the final weekend of summer, reports infohub.kz.
The box office leader from August 20-23 was "Spider-Man: New Day," which earned 270 million tenge in its third weekend. Since its release, the film has grossed 3 billion tenge, a 49% drop from the previous week. The data was provided by Comscore, an international company specializing in marketing data measurement and analysis.
Second place went to the domestic film "Bolgan Okiga 2" with 135.5 million tenge over the weekend. Rounding out the top three was "Odyssey," which collected 131.8 million tenge in its fifth week, bringing its total to 2.6 billion tenge.
"Moana" slipped from third to fourth place, earning 59 million tenge over the weekend and 234 million tenge in total. Debuting in fifth place was the Hollywood film "On the Edge of Oak Street" starring Anne Hathaway, which took in 58.1 million tenge.
