Drivers in several regions of Kazakhstan are being urged to exercise caution due to precipitation, ice and rain, while traffic restrictions are being introduced in the East Kazakhstan Region on a national highway, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to KazAvtoZhol National Company JSC, rain mixed with snow and snow are expected overnight and in the morning in the Akmola, Almaty, Pavlodar, Karaganda, North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions, as well as in the Abai and Zhetisu regions. Icy conditions are also forecast in some areas.
"We ask drivers to be extremely attentive, observe the speed limit and keep a safe distance, plan their routes in advance and, where possible, refrain from travelling unless necessary. Particular attention should be paid to the condition of tyres — with summer tyres, the risk of skidding and road accidents increases significantly," KazAvtoZhol said.
Drivers were reminded that the country's 1403 call centre provides up-to-date information on road conditions and weather.
Kazakhstanis were also warned about traffic restrictions in the East Kazakhstan Region. Starting at 20:00 today, due to deteriorating weather conditions, restrictions are being introduced for trucks with trailers and semi-trailers on the section of the national highway Ust-Kamenogorsk–Ridder–Russian border, from kilometre 15 to 105 (from Belousovka to Ridder).
The road is expected to reopen at 08:00 on 23 October 2026.
