Kazhydromet issued a storm warning for September 17 across several regions of Kazakhstan: rain and thunderstorms will sweep the west, north and east of the country, while mountainous areas of the East Kazakhstan Region may see rain and wet snow at night, with no significant precipitation expected elsewhere, infohub.kz reports.
In some regions, winds will strengthen to 15-20 meters per second. A dust storm is possible in the south of the Turkistan Region. Fog is forecast for the west, north, east and center of the country during the night and morning hours.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Abai and Mangystau regions.
Strong winds are forecast in the Aktobe, Almaty, Turkistan, Kyzylorda, Akmola, Zhambyl and other regions. In Shymkent and Turkistan, northeasterly wind gusts will reach 15-20 meters per second.
In the Karaganda Region, frost of up to 2 degrees is expected on the soil surface at night in the north and east.
Extreme fire danger persists in the Kyzylorda, Turkistan, Zhambyl, Aktobe and Almaty regions and the Ulytau Region, as well as in certain districts of several other regions.
High fire danger remains in Astana and Almaty, while Konaev faces extreme fire danger.
The day before, forecasters said air from Uzbekistan would bring warmer temperatures to Kazakhstan.
