Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected on July 28 in five Kazakh cities, which will contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the atmosphere. The air quality is at risk in Almaty, Aktobe, Balkhash, and at night in Astana and Kostanay, according to the website infohub.kz.
According to weather forecasters, conditions in these localities will lead to harmful substances lingering in the ground-level air. Unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMCs) result from a combination of calm winds, light breeze, fog, and temperature inversion, leading to a deterioration of the environmental situation.
Experts warn that during periods of UMCs, the risk of negative health impacts from polluted air increases, especially for people with chronic respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The level of pollution is also influenced by wind speed, humidity, air temperature, and precipitation.
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near busy roads and emission sources. Children, the elderly, and pregnant women are recommended to avoid long walks. People with respiratory diseases, heart conditions, and allergies should carry necessary medications. On days with UMCs, it is advisable to limit intense physical activity outdoors and move workouts indoors.
Earlier, it was reported that according to Kazhydromet's forecasts, the weather on July 28 in Kazakhstan will be contrasting: some regions will see heavy rain with hail and squally winds, while others will experience extreme heat — for instance, in the Mangystau Region, temperatures could reach +47°C.
