Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei urged Iranians not to count on political changes in the United States leading to an improvement in relations between the two countries, infohub.kz reports.
He made the statement in a message marking the anniversary of the 1979 seizure of the US embassy in Tehran and the day of struggle against imperialism observed in Iran.
"If there are still those who harbor any hope of a change in behavior or party-factional shifts in the ruling system, or who imagine that by making concessions to the US they can turn it away from its hostility toward the Iranian people, they are badly mistaken," Khamenei's message said.
On November 3, Americans went to the polls in the midterm elections to choose all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 senators. According to a CNN forecast, the Democrats will win a majority in the House. In addition, Bloomberg projects that the party could also gain control of the Senate, securing at least 51 seats.
