Kimberly Guilfoyle has resigned as the United States ambassador to Greece amid a growing scandal. She is accused of abuse of office and extortion, infohub.kz reports.

She announced her departure on X. "Serving as the United States Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime. I will forever be grateful to President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for entrusting me with the extraordinary privilege of representing the greatest country in the history of the world," she said.

The former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. noted that from her first day in office she worked to advance the president's agenda. The diplomat also addressed the scandal involving her.

"I also want to address recent allegations made against me. These allegations are false, and I intend to defend my name, my reputation, and my honor. I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, defending what is right, and upholding the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service," she wrote.

According to Euronews, several US media outlets, citing sources close to the White House, reported that the ambassador to Greece — the former fiancée of Trump's eldest son — may have engaged in self-serving abuse of office, extortion, and even threats against Greek officials. The outlet also writes that the White House has not officially clarified whether this resignation is connected to the scandal.
