In Astana, a young man with a knife caused a commotion at the Abu Dhabi Plaza shopping and entertainment center, threatening boutique staff. The incident occurred shortly before the mall closed, reports infohub.kz.
According to an eyewitness who posted on Threads, the attacker approached an e-cigarette kiosk and demanded sticks. When refused, he pulled out a knife, threatened the seller, grabbed a pack, and fled. Later, he spotted a female employee taking out the trash and followed her. In one boutique, he again demanded sticks, threatening with the knife.
“Give me a stick or I’ll kill you,” the author quoted the attacker as saying. She said it took time to call security. Eventually, mall guards began chasing the young man.
Astana police confirmed the report. Officers quickly identified the offender as a 19-year-old resident of the capital. He was taken to a police station for investigation.
“During the check, it was established that the young man took the knife from home. He also has health issues. An ambulance was called, and he was handed over to his father,” police said.
No injuries were reported. Earlier, a similar case occurred in the North Kazakhstan region, where a drunk man with a knife attacked a police officer.
